What a weekend! Apparently the long holiday weekend had a lot of people itching to play some pool, 'cause they kept us busy all day Saturday and Sunday!
We challenged everyone to beat the total of 30 boards we ran over the holiday weekend last year. Guess what? We almost did that in EACH LOCATION. On Saturday, Taz arrived at PJ's half an hour early and players were waiting - she started three boards before the official start time. I came later and stayed until the bar closed at 2AM. All in all, we ran 28 qualifiers on Saturday alone!
Sunday at The Mix was no different. Needing only three boards to top last year, we decided to set a new goal of running as many as we had on Saturday. We kept the players and the tables busy for more than twelve hours, completing 30 more boards for a grand total of 58 qualifiers in two days!
Congratulations to all who won qualifier boards this weekend. Perhaps the best part was that the players who didn't qualify paid no fees at all. That can add up, when you consider that we had ten players who played on more than five boards each. Just ask Cameron McPherson, he played on ten boards for free!
The award for persistence, however, goes to Ann Kato. Ann played on twelve different boards before winning the very last one at 1:45 AM this morning. Way to hang in there, Ann!
Fifty-eight boards in two days. That will be tough to beat next year. Speaking of which, if this is to become an annual thing, we're going to have to come up with a snazzy name for it. Any suggestions?

It is nice to see lots of new faces and have a chance to play new opponents as well.....there were a lot of people I had never met before.
I had a good time also....and I like Taz's idea on a qualifier every session.
I am sure there were lots of people who could not make it Thanksgiving weekend because of family commitments or other obstacles too many to even imagine....some of those were my own team mates so I know it is true.
GREAT JOB BY THE LEAGUE OPERATORS!
I'm ready to do it again any time.

Taz and Phil:
This was my first experience with the Single Qualifiers and I didn't know what to expect. It was one heck of a good time. I got to socialize with people I would not normally meet.
Taz, thanks for the warm reception to me and my new team mates. They too (Lyle Mays and Mike Mcauliffe) had a excellent time.
Kudos to both Cameron and Ann for their persistence!

I think next year it will be the 3rd annual "Turkey Shoot" huh? Or the Turkey Bowl if we dont wanna upset any activists. Good Job this weekend you two. I had fun..........and stayed sane.

Taz........sounds like a good idea....but I think you would end up with the same thing you have now....no shows to scheduled events until there is no alternative.  We all know what attendance at the preceding years scheduled qualifying boards has been. 
Just my 2 cents.

I hope Phil doesn't kill me for this, but.....why annual? Why not schedule a qualifying weekend per session? We could add it to the Dates to Remember and set aside one weekend per session to run qualifier boards. What say you? |

Kudos!!! to a job well-done. I had so much fun playing pool over the weekend. It was great meeting so many new people all over the league.
P.S. Congrats to my captain, Ann Kato. Way to hang in there! You said you were going to qualify...and you did!
