I have heard of rackless and skunk patches being issued this session.I was wondering if this was true.If so let me know.Thanx |

ApaMVP, I'm disappointed that you failed to mention your namesake, the MVP patch! Then there's the Division Champion patch, the Singles Regional patch, and the ones you get for participating in the Singles and Team Nationals. Oh, and the one you get for paying your membership each year, the APA patch. Did I forget any?

Let's also not forget about the '7' patch, that a player receives when he/she becomes a '7' in 8-ball. As far as I know, there isn't a '9' patch, is there? |

8-Ball Break, 8-Ball Break & Run and Rackless night (you win the lag and shut out your opponent, thus never racking a game).
9-Ball Break, 9-Ball Break & Run and Shut-Out (often times referred to as "skunk" patch - you win the match with a 20-0 score, shutting out your opponent).
Lastly, Grand Slam. This is a patch given to a player who accomplishes an 8-Break Break, 8-Ball Break & Run, 9-Ball Break and 9-Ball Break & Run all during the same session. |

Question from a relative newbie: what are all the patches you can earn? I saw a rackless patch and I thought it was pretty sweet. |

The Shut-out (skunk)and rackless night patches were introduced this season. They are not retro-active. |

Not this season Taz .... it was in the last 8 Ball season. Donora Anderson did it in the 5th or 6th week I believe. |

Phil, how is it that one of your players got a "rackless" night when you do not have a team playing in the summer session? |

And how do you get these patches when someone on your team wins one. One of my players went 'rackless' during her match. I think I put it on the scoresheet. |

A rackless patch is issued when you throughout the entire course of your eightball match, never rack once. You win the lag, and then do not drop a single frame to your opponent, meaning you never have to rack for them. They don't exist in 9ball because it's impossible to determine who sunk the 9 and therefore gets to break the next frame. Hopefully this answers your question.

Actually, the name for it is a "shut-out". The patch has the picture of a skunk on it, so many choose to call it a skunk patch. It is awarded to 9-Ball players who score a 20-0 (shut-out their opponents). |
