Posted - 06/16/2005 : 02:20:01 AM Just started playing 8 ball this season, so this is the first time I saw how 8 ball scoring is kept. Being from a 9 ball league, I had expected ball count to be one of the reported stats. But our team didn't keep this stat on the score sheet, so I'm assuming that remaining ball count is not a kept stat. I think including # balls remaining when the game ended would provide a better picture of players' performance and skill level. Example: If a player shutout his/her opponent and all their games ended with both players shooting for the 8 ball. You would assume that they are playing at about the same level. Other scenario where the loosing player makes only 1 to 2 balls per game. This would indicate that the player is really playing much better.

Posted - 06/16/2005 : 09:58:32 AM When someone has a break and run against you it doesn't mean you played bad, yet all your balls are on the table.... also some defensive players intentionally leave more of their balls on the table to create more traffic for the other player until they are ready for a run-out.... My thinking is that the number of innings is a much more effective measurement than balls left.
