I play in the 9 Ball league Thursday Camarillo, there is a team that consistantly does not show up!!!! They forfiet on avg. 50 points. If they do show up, they only play 1 or 2 people and forfiet the night. I dont think it is fair to my team that we all show up every week excepecting to play, not pay thier money....Dont get me wrong i could care less about $15-$20 dollars hell I spend more in beer.....but my players come out expecting to play........not to mention some teams recieve 82 points in a night and they only play one match. It effects the true standings for who is in contention for playoff's......I cant wait to hear what people have to say about this......
I would rather have a bye week then deal with this teams drama... at least it would be fair to all the teams that come out to play week in and week out............

Phil, Wasn't that week the forfits happened the week of the southwest challenge? when I believe the team in question had several members there.
and I am not sure what team Derrick is referring to but my ears are ringing.

D-Rack, who's getting an attitude and YELLING on the message board?  Perhaps you didn't realize that all caps is yelling (I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here ). Please unlock your Caps.
Yes, you have a right to your opinion (no one has stated otherwise ), as does everyone else, but if you really don't want to read (see/hear whatever) other people's opinions, pros & cons, why bother posting on a message board? |

Joe, Yes to your question. I've played with against the same folks since I joined the APA. Most of my fellow team captains have become to varying degrees friends of mine. Of course you should help other teams find players. REmember, you're not only helping your fellow captain add players. You're also bringing new players into our wonderful organization.

jOE I WASNT BEATING UP ON THERE CAPTIN I LIKE MAC, BUT YOU DONT PLAY OUT IN OUR DIVSION SO I REALLY DONT THINK YOU QUIET UNDERSTAND, THEY HAD MULTIPLE PEOPLE PLAYING ON THURSDAY ONE IN THE T.O. DIVSION ONE IN OXNARD ....... i JUST WAS MAKING MY POINT I AM ENTITLED TO OPION AS YOU ARE YOURS ........

I think Phil 100% correct. Yes it is annoying to show up and not play but for most teams there is at least one person who shows up and doesnt get to play.
The captain that sticks around after a season of forfiets should be commended for the effort. That person really wants to have a team and has expended time, money and frustration, didnt succeed immediately but kept on plugging. That kind of determination is to be applauded.
Question - When a team is struggling with fielding a full team should other teams try and help find them players?

Hmmmmmmmmm, 82 points and only one match played? How is that possible? Wouldn't the final score be 76-0 if the one match played ended in a 20-0 result? In fact, the fewer matches you play, the fewer points you get. A five-match forfeit gets you 68 points.
Now, I'm sure you just said 82 for effect. As Taz pointed out, the team to which you refer has fielded five players three of the first four weeks, with week three being the exception. I believe they are past the struggling point, which did unfortunately last a session and a half. Rather than complain about them now, maybe you should commend their captain for sticking it out and building the team back up.
And Sharpshooter, the team to which you refer forfeited exactly one match last session.

Taz- i am not only talking about this season but last it just seems like an on-going problem with that team. That's why i said "How many Forfiets does it take before a team is dropped from the division. |

Now Derrick, as you and everyone else in your division knows, that team went through some major changes and their issues were in previous sessions. They have played full matches 3 of 4 weeks having forfeited 2 matches in week #3.
I agree that it isn't fun to show up and receive forfeits, as everyone who joins a league does so in order to play; however, you are not "paying their money". Our Local Bylaws indicate every team pays $25 regardless of how many matches they play. You are paying your own team's fees.
I could understand your rant if the team was forfeiting every week (as you make it sound), but that simply is not the case. |

I agree we have a team in our 9-ball division that tends to do most of their forfiets towards the end of the session and teams are getting huge jumps or catching up to the front of the pack without earning it. |
