Man - I hate them.
We played a team this past week that will usually forfeit a game or three on away nights. Sure enough, we played them at their place (again) & stunk up the place going 1-4. I know it happens, I just feel like whining (why? see below) Considering that our league is going to come down to the final week again, it's frustrating. I won't say it has an big impact on the standings b/c everyone of our players should and could have won...but it was just one of those weeks where it all goes bad. Now had they come to our joint, we start the night up one or two wins before we even get started & can adjust our match-ups accordingly.
 Question of the week: How do yo know you truly deserve a SL-4?
You beat a 6 one week only to turn around and get your behind handed to you by an SL-2! arrrgh

I don't wanna hear your whining, Jack. I've played against you a few times when you shoot like a skill level thirteen. Maybe you just bring the best out of people.

Derrick's a 6 but he shoots like a 7+ whenever he plays me. I'd also like to see Derrick play in Thousand Oaks (again). I think there's some payback due. What is it a 15 minute drive? Get your lazy butt back up here on Tuesdays man!

What's your skill level, Derek? I already have two sixes counting myself on the team I captain Tuesday nights. I do play on two other 8ball teams and if we need someone I'd love to have you.

Now that I can't use that one any more, anybody wanna take me up on this one?
9-Ball, I get the break and ball-in-hand after the break, and you get the last nine. All you have to do is legally pocket one ball and you win.
Any takers?

The rails are not MY pockets, they are yours. I still have to make the balls in the real pockets.
The key is that it's just one game for all the stakes. I simply let you run down to the 8 or 9, then when the cue ball hits the rail I take ball-in-hand, as Torsten surmised. Earlier in the rack I "oops" don't see the scratches...
Like I said, it only works for one game.

I don't think Phil wants you to even "get to the table" to worry about the cue ball hitting a rail - but if you do get a turn then you must have excellent control of the cue ball so that you do not hit a rail and turn the table back over to him with ball in hand!!! |

That's got to be it, what Torsten said, right? You know how hard it is to run balls without hitting a rail? Everytime the cue hits a rail it is "down" and he gets ball in hand, so evil. |

After Phil breaks, all the balls that hit a rail are pocketed. Hopefully ALL the balls hit rails but even if they didn't he only has to shoot the ones that are left!!!

Sounds to me like you must break and make the nine ball, break and run or follow the break and hook the opponent to a point that he can not hit his ball.
As long as he can't hit his ball he can't drive it to a rail.
