Who put this article in the paper? Why were only a few of the teams mentioned? There are two teams from Camarillo that made Nationals. One was mentioned in the article but TINI'S & SUDS was not. We were the loudest! How could we have been forgotten? 
Just thought it would have been nice if someone was going to go to the trouble of getting the teams mentioned in the Ventura County Star, that ALL teams would have been mentioned. I even heard it on B95.1!

I'm a little late reading the posts regarding the Ventura Co. Star's article on Dead Strokes. Nancy, when the reporter called me, to ask me how I felt about Dead Strokes making it to Nationals, I was a 'tad' offended. She did not want to talk to me about my team, but rather my opinion on another team. I gave her the names of the other 3 winning teams for 8-ball. And did tell her that there were other local teams from the 9-ball division who were going to Nationals. At first she said, that she would be sending a photographer to our location here in Camarillo. Later, after the article ran on Dead Strokes, I contacted her as to when the photographer would be out here, and she said they were done, that they were only profiling Dead Strokes. I guess some things in life does depend on who you know and not what you have accomplished.

I don't understand that either. It's nearly impossible to leave you out, Larry. Trust me, we've been trying for years...

While we're at it, why didn't "MY" name get mentioned. Really, if they are even going to begin publicizing the accomplishments of our poolplayers, HOW could they ever leave me out? :) (Sorry I couldn't resist) |

I'm sorry that all the teams did not get mentioned. I gave them phil ans taz phone number to get the rest of the information. I can't make them write what I want.
I give the winning teams an open invitation to join us on Monday the 11th at Moorpark Billiards. The Acorn, a local paper, will be here to interview us (Dead Stroke). If you play on that day, at least send a representative. That's the best I can do.
I would like to thank all of you that have expressed how happy they are for us. We've been trying for this opportunity for over 4 years.

Well, I sent an email to the person who wrote that article. Maybe now ALL teams will get some recognition. I hate to see any team not get the recognition they deserve. We all know how intense regionals are. And Nationals are so much more intense. Phil, I gave the reporter your email address. Maybe now they will check a proper source before reporting only part of the good stuff.
Congrats to all the teams that made Nationals. See ya at the Splash Bar!!

Nancy, I agree it would have been nice to have all the winning teams mentioned, as well as the correct name of our league and perhaps even the names of those running the league? |

Look at the bright side, Nancy. You can take advantage of the fact that your team is going to Vegas under a veil of relative anonymity. Sneak attack from behind a smoke screen. That, and ask Don Shawley what he thinks about the picture of him they printed. (Don, if you read this, sorry, I couldn't resist I still think its a great photo. It gives new meaning to 'kiss off the ) |

You should ask the Star. They called us for names, but when we mentioned 9-Ball they said they didn't want that info. I don't know why.
I wish we could just send an article (press release) to the paper and get it printed, but it never works that way. We can't seem to get them to print anything for us. The stuff that does get printed usually originates from a team captain with a connection, and is never 100% complete or accurate. For instance, Dead Stroke is not undefeated this year
