We have a serious problem, session after session, with playoffs envelopes/scoresheets. Either out of frustration, disappointment or anger, more often than not the loosing teams are not turning in their playoffs envelopes/scoresheets. It is imperative that we receive the paperwork. To that end, I am seriously considering witholding end-of-session prize fund checks from any team that is in the playoffs and does not turn in their envelope/scoresheet (win or loose).
PLEASE DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOUR TEAM!!!!
Hmm....I think we may just have to add this to the Local Bylaws. We could put that money in the Emergency Relief Fund. Playoffs teams that fail to turn in their paperwork will forfeit their prize fund check and those monies will be deposited in the ER Fund account. |

Taz I can definetly understand the frustration of being held up waiting for people to turn in paperwork (thats the story of my life at work)
But, on the other side of that, your holding a whole team responsible for what one person is failing to do. Most team members don't handle the scoresheet, its ultimately up to the Captain of the team to ensure the sheet reaches the turn in box.
Sure, we as players can constantly remind and pester the captain to turn in the sheet but at the end of the night, when that captain gets in their car and drives off...what happens after that is out of our control. We're not going to follow them to the box and make sure they put it in LOL
As most (if not all) captains split up any monies amongst their team, make your Emergency Relief Donation with the share of money that would have gone to that teams Captain then, because it is them that is ultimately responsible.
You might start some bad feelings and open up a can of worms for that team that doesn't get any money solely because their captain might either need to grow up or take some ginsing. (Normally I wouldnt think people would be so petty, but in my last few seasons, I am now a true believer in the term "anythings possible").
If its always the losing team, then make it the responsibility of the winning team to collect scoresheets at the end of the playoff night and turn them in with theirs, surely being the winners they are going to make sure their scoresheets get turned in, they have a greater interest in it.

| As a team captain I live and die with my team. Every win feels great every loss hurts. If I screw up and cost my team points, or money I take responsibility and suffer the loss not my team. It is part of being captain. If you do not want to have this responsibility you should step aside and let someone else captain. |

Nothing says the captain has to be the one who turns the envelope in. Besides pestering and reminding, why not offer to turn them in yourself, so you know they'll get there?

Speaking of play offs we turned in all of our sunday ones yesterday Phil. I am just wondering when the Sunday DJ matchups will be listed sir? I know you only update the site once a week usually. No worries just wondering?

| The Sunday DJ playoff information will be posted no later than Wednesday night (late); however, the actual stats will not be updated until next Saturday morning. If your team makes the playoffs, just let them know you are in the playoffs and therefore they should ALL plan on being there. Good luck! |

I think this sounds like a great idea. Part of having a pool team invloves some responsibility. All of the responsibilty does not land on the captain, we are members of a Team. We are supposed to follow the rules/guidelines while we play the game....then why not follow the rules/guidlines that prove we were playing that game??? Anyways, most captains and team members that I know don't live or play for that money. For the ones who do, get your envelopes in!  |

I do agree with you on this one! However, I think the captain should be the responsible party, team or no team. Many players are just that, players! They are not interested in collecting money, keeping score, etc., they just want to play pool. Plus, many shooters can’t hang around, they need to leave. When agreeing to have a team and designating yourself as a captain, in not so many words, you are saying you want to be the “LEADER” for the team to follow by examples. Therefore, it should be the captain’s responsibility.
Now, as for how to get your sheets turned in…
You should have two things happen, not just one; if you make playoffs and do not turn in your score sheet, you forfeit your ability to get the next seasons “bonus points”. This way, only the offending party is penalized, or, his team. Also, the forfeiting of the money is a really good idea. I would only suggest that the money not go back into the league fund or group fund, rather into the Tommy fund (I just learned about this fund last night). Lastly, I will do my part to help you Taz, I will remind the team we beat next week to be sure they turn in their sheets!!! :-}

| So, the last envelopes have been picked-up and processed. Here's the results -- we are missing four team envelopes from teams who lost in the semi-finals and five from teams who lost in the finals. I cannot tell you how tempted I am to list the teams' names & captains. A heart felt "thank you" (dripping in sarcasm) to those who failed to turn in their envelopes. |
