| The Local Leaguer Spring Session 2006 (newsletter) is being distributed this week. All our Division Reps have been asked to hand them out to player on league night. If you don't get one by the end of the week, let us know and we'll be sure to send one. Hope you all enjoy the reading. Comments, suggestions and constructive criticism are all welcome. Feel free to post your thoughts. |

Just finished reading "The Local Leaguer" and really enjoyed it. Good information and very well written, thanks for the extra effort that I know something like that requires of you.
Someone else suggested that you make it available on line...that is a great idea....hope you can do that.
It should save you a lot of paper and will also make it convenient to read when ever one has time to log on.
Either way ...WONDERFUL JOB!

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to post the newsletter. It's written in Microsoft Word, using some advanced features that don't work right when saved to html. I also don't have a pdf writer, so that option isn't available either. I'm not comfortable posting a link to a downloadable word doc, so it looks like hardcopy is the only option for now.

Hi Phil,
If you decide in the future to post some documents in a pdf format, there are free downloadable printer drivers that output into a pdf format. If you do a google search for "free pdf printer" you'll find lots of options.

Thanks Jinny - don't know why I didn't think of that, I'm usually the first one to search for whatever I need on the web. I installed a couple of these drivers and it looks like they all do the same thing - convert the document to postscript then convert the postscript to pdf. This will work fine, except I have to remember to remove the shadows from all the text boxes. The postscript instructs the printer to draw the shadow, then draw the text box on top of it. When converted to pdf, it works the same way, so you have to wait for your pdf reader to draw the shadow every time you navigate through the document. Without the shadows though, it works great!
The newsletter will be posted (sans shadows) soon.

Jinny and Phil. Great idea on the PDF format. I got a pretty good response handing out the newsletter. Everyone who I was able to provide one for read it and conveyed that it was well worth the time spent. The only drawback was that once everyone was done reading it, there were copies of it strewn about all over the bar. Having it available for viewing on line is the perfect remedy.
