| The league office will be closed Saturday and Sunday as we make our way to Bakersfield to babysit, I mean cheer and support our South Coast APA players who made it to the Singles Regional event. We will be back again on Monday, March 6 at 8am. Have a nice weekend! |

We did well, taking our share of the boards. We had slightly less than 1/3 of the field and won four of twelve boards. Congratulations to the following players, who are Vegas bound:
Kelly Dowe (9-Ball)
Lyle Mays (9-Ball)
Elizabeth Penney (8-Ball)
Sean Lane (8-Ball)
Great shooting everyone!
It should be noted that both Kelly and Lyle advanced to nationals by defeating South Coast players in their respective finals. Kelly won her final match over Edith Rozsa, and Lyle squeaked through with a one-point win over his teammate Kato Lin.
Also finishing as runners-up were Sherry Ryan and Sharlene Teague, both in 8-Ball.
Overall, South Coast players played well all weekend. My choice for the match of the weekend, though, goes to Elizabeth Penney's final match. Elizabeth's opponent played a strong defensive match and got to the hill first. Still needing two games, Elizabeth capitalized on the only mistake her opponent made to force the case game, then completed an absolutely amazing run of eight balls to win the match. Way to go Elizabeth!

Sorry Tom, but the answer is no. Approximately 200 Players from 4 different league areas participated in the event. Phil & I were quite busy (in case some may not have noticed) and we do our best to keep track of how OUR players are doing. We don't really pay much attention to the rest. Once all South Coast players are eliminated on a board, that board becomes irrelevant to us.
If you really need or want a list of all winner, you may be able to find it in the Bakersfield website (www.apabakersfield.com). You may want to wait a couple of days and give their league operator a chance to post the info, as she was even busier than we were and is not done yet. There is post-tournament work that takes a couple of days to complete following this type of event. |

You will also be able to see the whole list of national qualifiers at poolplayers.com in a week or two. Unfortunately, that list seems to be sorted alphabetically.

Thanks Taz and Phil,
As always, you both worked very hard as I am sure the other League Operators did too......the tournament was a pleasure to participate in. Keep up the good work.
The Corner Pocket did a great job too, service was excellent, and prices were reasonable plus the IHOP being right next door was another bonus.
Carol and I even took time to check out the Billiards Supply store which was also next door.
I personally hope you continue to hold events out there.
