Hi,
Each season there seems to be an increase in teams from Yankee Doodles. While we welcome the additions, the table time they charge is double what any other bars are charging. I know the leauge or even the teams that play there have a say in this, but is there any idea how this issue can be addressed. I am not going to use the prize funds for table time. My players are really hesitant to go there and if we get any more teams from there im afraid my players will drop out and spend their money on darts.
any ideas,

We understand that Yankee Doodles charges more for the tables than other locations. That said, it remains their choice to do so. When we first started teams there, they reduced their rates from $8/hour to $5 for the league, with a cap of five hours. So how much extra does it really cost? For a given player on a given night, it will cost at most $3 more than in the other locations in the Valley, and that is IF that player plays two matches in a DJ division. Factor in that the other teams don't play at Yankee Doodles more than a few times a session, and we're talking about $10 more during the session for a given player.
Would we like to see Yankee Doodles reduce the table fees? Of course. However, it's their business and we can't tell them what to charge. Plus, they do provide more than most of the other locations. They have pretty good food, music that's kept at a reasonable level, servers who bring your food and beverages to you, and security to handle any "personality" problems that may arise. All that must be worth the extra expense to the teams that play there, as Yankee Doodles now hosts seven APA teams. Of all the locations in the Valley, only Ujpest, Shooters (in Newhall), The Mix, and Moonshadows have more.
One other thing - anyone who would rather play darts because they think it will save them a few dollars, feel free to try it. It's their entertainment money and if they feel they can get more entertainment value by spending it somewhere else, that's their choice. I for one would be surprised to find I could play in a dart league and put less than $2 into the machine each week. But I don't know darts, so I could be completely wrong...
