This could have been a simple email to Phil and Taz , but I figured I might not be the only person this happens to .
I just qualified for the next round in the singles tournament as a 5 . Now I've gone up to a 6 . What does this do to my singles play ? Do I play as a 6 in the 4-5 bracket , or do I move up to the 6-7 bracket ? If I can still play in the 4-5 bracket , can I try to qualify as a 6 and not only play in the 4-5 bracket , but also play in the 6-7 bracket at the same competition ?
Bet you never though of that one !

Actually Rick, not only has it been thought of, but this has been addressed before.
You cannot qualify to compete in multiple tiers of the Singles program at the same time. Why would anyone be allowed to compete in a tier lower than their most current & accurate skill level?
The fact that you are qualified does not change due to skill level changes. You participated in a qualifier, you won the board, you are qualified for the second level of Singles competition.
The tier you will compete in (when it's time to play the Regional or National Qualifier level) will be determined at that time. All participants must compete at the skill level which represents their true playing ability.
Since several months can pass from the time a player becomes qualified to the time a Regional or National Qualifier is scheduled, it is not unusual for a player to qualify at one skill level and their skill level change (most often it improves).
All players skill levels entering the second level of Singles competition go through Local and National Handicap Review process. Also, all players must sign a Players Certification Form before participating, which in part reads "...if you are competing locally at a skill level higher than the level at which you are scheduled to start the tournament, you must inform the Tournament Director by "certifying" yourself at the higher level...". Players who fail to do so risk disqualification. |

| So let me understand this properly . I qualified as a 5 , but if I'm still a 6 when the next round comes up I will be playing in the 6-7 tier , not the 4-5 tier . |

Yep, Rick you got it right!
....and....
If you go in as a 5, win and get raise to a 6 during the tournament you can be disqualified at the disgression of the tournament directors and the handicap committee.
Timing is everything but when you finally get up to a 7 they can't do that to you anymore.
That is my goal.

Thanks Tom , I won't give the judges the option to disqualify me , I intend on staying a 6 .

Hey Taz and Phil
If by some means I was able to start playing again would I come back at the highest skill level I was at when I left due to my back injury/sugerys or sence its been so long ago would i start over...I know i would need to renew membership and find a team. and a few other considerations sence I am not supose to drive anymore...oh well I can dream.

Thanks for the offer but I would be more of a detrament to any team.
I have Been rated totly Disabled for life by the Docs and SSD and non employable any Job. Cant Even Take my own Trash out. Curently trying to find a down stairs place to live just so i Can try and walk again. Am Pretty Much Trapped at home cause i cant get up and down the stairs to go walk by myself Sence the courts rated me and work comp bailed I lost my at home care cause medicare wont pay for it. with that all said to try and plaY at my old skill lvls would be totaly unfair to any team I would join. Its to Bad that the APA doesn't allow for disablitys That happened after the person atained ther skill rating and give a person a fair chance to reqaulify there skill lvls without hurting the team that would take a chance. But rule are rules. So be it.

Ok.......that being said....if you EVER decide to start back up......you have only to ask, afterall.............you ARE the one to blame for getting me hooked up with this bunch! (And I am sure more than one person would volunteer to whoop your *ss for that! *smile*)
