What is the opinion on this one:
Basically "How far should you go to reschedule a match to accomodate your opponent?"
We play SL 6-5-5-4-3
Due to a conflict between APA Championship night and another much bigger tournament out of town, a request was made to reschedule one or two matches in order to accomodate the players from our opposing team. It just happened to be their SL 6 who had beaten our top player previously and their amazingly good, undefeated and probably unbeatable SL 7 - both would be out of town for the match.
We declined to reschedule for many different reasons - but mainly, we couldn't get the player(s) WE wanted to play against the 7 before he left town. We weren't sure we could get the right match-up against the 6 either. Mother's Day had a lot to do with availability as did previous commitments and distance from the Valley.
My input was that we should reschedule because we want to beat the players who would most likely play, BUT we would only reschedule if it didn't screw up our strategy for playing this opponent. Ultimately, we couldn't get the players we needed to play over the weekend - so we politely declined. SO....opinions?

On a normal/regular season, we have given our opponents a "break" or accomodate them for whatever reason. If it's a playoff game and my opponents have a bigger tournament schedule .... It's a different story .... I don't know if I want to "accomodate them" to beat me and leave me out of the playoffs. Especially if I know that the 6 and 7 will probably beat anyone on my team a good percentage of the time.
We were in a situation at "regionals" when one of my players could not show (and we needed him) ... we ended up being eliminated from going to Vegas .... it's just something that we have to deal with.

I agree with your post, we ended up winning but the atmosphere was a little "tense" between a couple of players. Pretty much what I expected.
Overall, almost everyone treated each other with class and respect and it was your typical playoff night. Full of pressure.
Funny thing, only their 7 couldn't make it, our best player lost anyway and our 3 closed out the last match of the night 2 zip. Pool never ceases to amaze and confuse me!
