Yankee Doodles is trying to get the approval to be open till 2:00 AM which the town originally promised them but Simi is now trying to make them close at 11PM.
I personally would like to see Yankee Doodles as a NEW APA League location but realistically it would only make sense if they are allowed to stay open till 2 AM.
If anyone would like to help them in their efforts to convince Simi Valley to live up to the original promise click this link and sign their petition.

Although I haven't been up to the new mall since I moved out of Simi, you would think it would be harmless to stay open late up there at the mall away from housing....sometimes I just don't get it.
Plus, now Simi could put one police car on Erringer & another on First St. & they could get all the DUI's from The Arena & Yankee Doodles!
just kidding..off to sign the petition. As a member of a team that has struggled to find an establishment to play out of, I'll sign - we need more quality APA locations.

But...
The Yankee Doodles won't be in that new mall.
It will be on Tapo and Alamo...where "The Tree House" used to be.
Supposedly the residents there are objecting to the late hours but it is more likely the town council and police department that are really objecting....along with some of the potential competition around here....there are not too many good places in Simi as most of you know....we could sure use this one and a few more too.

Thing is, Tommy, the Doodle might not be the best place for APA. I played on a team out of the valley Yankee's location. They don't cut you much of a break on the green fees, so it's more than six or seven bux a person. Granted, the management might be different at the new one if it's an independently operated franchise, but the management at the valley location was not incredibly helpful with anything. Quite the contrary. Yeah, it would be nice to have another quality apa location to choose from. The sad truth of the matter is, places like PJ's Pub just don't sprout up like dandelions. Most smaller bars have one table, if any at all.

PJ's is GREAT, I will attest to that. We moved our 8 ball team to the Arena because PJ's was always so crowded and the Arena has welcomes us with open arm. They are GREAT as well and they have both 9 foot and 7 foot tables as you all know.
Maybe we just have to talk to the right people at Yankee Doodles to get the kind of treatment that APA teams want. The team captains have to speak up if they are unhappy at their current location plus the more locations available the more likely that the team will be able to get the kind of treatment they deserve.
You all know that as a self employeed business man I am not shy about stating my opinion. The APA has helped the Arena a lot and the Arena has responded favorably welcoming the APA. Yankee Doodles should do the same and if they don't the potential business should be looking elsewhere....SIMPLE...period.
That goes spades for any other establishment being considered....by any team.

The Yankee Doodles in Simi is not separately owned - it's the same people who own the one in Woodland Hills. In fact, the manager we worked with initially in the Woodland Hills location, Fabian, will be managing the Simi location.
Yankee Doodles is our most expensive location in terms of table fees, but it's not outrageously expensive. The most a team pays is $12.50 for the evening. The earlier you get done, the less it costs. It's not what the T.O./Simi teams are used to, but we do have other locations in our area that charge $10 per team.
Perhaps Fabian will be able to cut the teams a better break in Simi, since I doubt they will have crowds at night like they do in Woodland Hills, especially in the beginning.

Agreed - the Arena has come a long way Dave (the mgr) does a great job promoting the place. Probably the best football watching layout around. The Treehouse location? A lot of houses very close, I remember that joint as a fight waiting happen every Weds - Sat.
Best of luck finding a home out there - I'm in on the petition & will spread the word with my Simi brethren. There is always "Judge Roy Beans" if you are truly stuck! 
Funny, you are talking about bars not welcoming the APA with open arms.
Breaking news today: Our bar in Burbank has not so respectfully asked both Tuesday & Wednesday night teams to either pay $1 per game or hit the road....no warning, no compromise. All of this after a load of promises from the new owner to welcome us this season. Thank you to everyone who assisted my captain on his game day scramble to find a place to play tonight.

I used to have my team play out of YD in Woodland Hills. We have since moved to Plush Pockets because they will honor the $5 per table per team. In short we are paying $10 for DJ. We played Poolaholics2 and there was supposed to be a $25.00 maximum. However, Fabian said the owner Rauol never agreed to that max and wants to charge a flat $5 per hour per table. I looked at him and shook my head. So it is no longer a $12.50 max per team it is whatever their time clock says.
