There has been a LOT of news media attention lately about the transfer of disease and illness from one person to another by "SHAKING HANDS"....could the APA start a policy of just "wishing" someone good luck with WORDS , or Congratulations on winning ....or Good Game, without having to do the "SPORTSMANSHIP" thing of shaking hands....many times the tables are filthy.. people have just come from work after "touching" numerous OTHER hands during the day and who knows what else they have been doing with their hands... not to mention the people who are very nervous after having played a hard fought game and are SWEATING....
just remember "one germ is worth a thousand words"....
I personally , would NOT BE OFFENDED if someone else would just SMILE at me and wish me good luck and a "thumbs up"or if I am lucky, say, "congratulations on winning" and NOT shake my hand.
 stay healthy and good luck to everyone and....... happy germs !!!

| How about knocking fists? That would seem to be a good alternative because obviously all the germs get crushed between the two fists. |

That is absolutely ridiculous. Do you realize how many germs you pickup throughout the day from general contact? Shaking hands with someone is not going to put you at anymore risk. Do you not wash your hands after a match? Unless you have an open sore on your hand or rub your eyes, nose, or mouth those germs are pretty much harmless if you just wash your hands. If you drink bottle beer, how many people do you think handled that bottle before you? Or how about the bartender that handles money and then grabs an olive for your martini? What about the chalk or the bridge? This reminds me of Jack Nicholson in AS good as it gets.
I say this because I have been accused of being a germafobe. I am aware of what I touch and wash my hands many times throughout the day. If I shake hands with someone that I feel is not as hygenically prudent as I am, I just politely wait until they leave and then go wash my hands. However, I do deal with a lot of construction people that come in dirty and sweaty, so I do keep my eyes open.
Movistar, I am not trying to be an ass. I just don't believe it is that bad. I would bet if you explained it to your opponent before the match they may think you are weird, but would respect your position.
Maybe we could just pat each other on the behind before and after a match. Like we are profesional athletes.

Well i am going to have to agree with Kerry on this ...
Couldn't of said it better!!!!
What a joke!!! If your that worried why don't you just stop playing in the league ..better yet stay home in a plastic bubble!!!
Why would you ask to change a policy??? I don't even think it is a policy more like two friends wishing each other a good match...
